Renovation and extension of traditional property

Tynte Park Lodge, Dunlavin was constructed between 1810 and 1820 as a school for the estate workers’ children and a private chapel for the Tynte family. The original property was converted and used as a residence in the mid 1970’s. In 1999 the present owner embarked on a renovation and extension programme to the property. The brief to architect David Lennon was to extend the existing single storey building with a new two storey extension containing kitchen/utility/dining area, sitting room and disabled accessible shower room at the ground floor level and master bedroom, en-suite, dressing room, office/library at first.

Signature Windows green casement windows

The owner who has a strong passion for art requested that opportunities for hanging pieces of art be incorporated into the link between the existing property and new two-storey extension. The link, which contains a feature access stairs to the first-floor, provides dramatic two storey wall space for larger pieces of artwork.

On completion of the stone faced extension, the surrounding gardens were extensively planted and feature ponds installed. The installation of Signature Windows and Doors throughout the extension and link, frame restful views of the surrounding gardens and beyond to dramatic corn-fields and the majestic beech woods of Tynte Park House.
